Healthcare Provision

Important Notice
The holistic healthcare services provided by Paw Vida Holistic Therapies are not a substitute for clinical examination, diagnosis, or treatment by a Veterinary Surgeon. Our therapists do not diagnose illness, disease or any other physical or psychological condition.

Therapeutic Canine Massage
Our therapists abide by the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Exemption Order 2015 by never working upon an animal without gaining prior veterinary approval. Our therapists do not diagnose illness, disease or any other physical or psychological condition.

Professional Body Membership
All professional canine massage therapists are expected to work to high ethical and practical standards. As a member of the Canine Massage Guild, a network of highly skilled professional canine massage therapists specialising in the rehabilitation of dogs, our therapists agree by condition of membership to work Best Practice and abide by the Canine Massage Guild’s Code of Conduct and Professional Ethics Procedure. Any member contravening the Code is subject to the Canine Massage Guild’s Professional Conduct Procedure. As clinical (human) massage therapists, we are also a member of the Federation of Holistic Therapists, the largest and leading professional association for therapists in the UK and Ireland. Our therapists agree by condition of membership to abide by the FHT Code of Conduct and Professional Practice. Any member contravening the Code is subject to the FHT Professional Conduct Procedure. Confidentiality
Paw Vida therapists treat all of your information as confidential and will only use this information for the purpose for which it was given. In line with the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeon’s Code of Professional Conduct, in normal circumstances our therapists shall not disclose to any third party any information about yourself or their animal, either given by yourself or revealed by clinical examination, without express written consent from yourself or your legal representative.

The duty of confidentiality is important but it is not absolute however and information can be disclosed under certain circumstances, for example where disclosure can be justified by animal welfare concerns or the wider public interest, or where disclosure is required by law.

Record Keeping
Paw Vida Holistic Therapies maintain full and accurate records which include details regarding every consultation, any healthcare provision undertaken, any products or equipment used as part of these consultations, and any proposed after care advice given to the client. The record will be reviewed and updated where necessary, at every consultation. By Law, the client record will be held securely for the lifetime of the animal but for a minimum of 6 years if the animal is deceased prior to the six years elapsing.

Continued Professional Development
As a member of the Canine Massage Guild and Federation of Holistic Therapists, our therapists have an obligation to maintain and improve their professional skills, knowledge and performance in keeping with their Canine Massage Guild and FHT memberships, insurance requirements and industry standards.

Insurance
Paw Vida Holistic Therapies hold relevant insurance cover for Medical Malpractice, Breach of Professional Duty and Public Liability.

Health and Safety
Paw Vida Holistic Therapies endeavour to observe all health and safety rules and regulations and any other reasonable security measures applicable to the premises at which your appointment takes place.

 

Payment and Cancellation Policy

General
Payment is due at the time of appointment unless by prior agreement with your therapist. If you need to cancel your appointment, please let us know with as much notice as possible. If that’s within 24 hours of the scheduled appointment, 100% of the agreed fee will be chargeable.
